How does it work?
The IT-Woofa™ uses a movement sensor with sirens controlled by a
microprocessor. A security remote control authorises
communication with the alarm via a radio signal. It also has a
panic button useable in certain modes and can be attached to your
keyring. Both units are powered by
batteries.

What makes the IT-Woofa™ special in preventing the theft of my
laptop?
1. Securely attached. When attached using the supplied double sided
pad, it is held permanently in place. Its patented limpet shape
means it cannot be held, grasped or twisted off the laptop.
2. Sirens. Attempts at theft, breaching security, or using the panic
button will trigger 85dB sirens
3. Visual deterrant. There are 3 warning flashing LEDs on the
top of the alarm. The word ALARM is clearly imprinted on the
lid.
4. Audible deterrant. Depending on settings, there may be between
1 and 4 warning chirps before sirens trigger.
5. Anti-tamper protection. Any attempt to remove the
batteries illegally will trigger the sirens.
|
Will
it secure my laptop in office?
Yes. If armed it cannot be moved or tampered with without tripping the
sirens.
|

|
How
does it secure my data?
As it is permanently on the laptop lid, lifting the lid triggers the
sirens.
|
|
How about when I am
travelling?
Arm the alarm when the laptop is stationary as tampering will cause the
sirens to trigger. E.g. at the airport lounge, pub, restaurant,
hotel pool, when left in the car or anywhere. When not stationary
leave the alarm in sleep mode, with motion sensors inactive, which
allows use of the panic button to trigger the sirens.
|
Is
it easy to operate?
Yes. There is a single button on the alarm with all function changes
authorised by a security remote.
|
Once
triggered, will the sirens sound immediately?
No. There is a minimum wait of 2.5 seconds, which can be adjusted to
up to 8.5 seconds. During that delay period there are audible
warning chirps.
|
Can
a cell-phone or similar interfere with the alarm?
No.
|
How
do the sirens trigger?
When armed, movement will trigger the sirens, as well as attempts to
tamper with the battery cover or use of the panic button.
|
Can
the sirens be triggered remotely?
Yes. Using the panic button (but not in low power mode).
|
Does
the alarm warn before the sirens trigger?
Yes. Warning period depends on the alarm settings. Factory
setting is 2 warning chirps before triggering, which may be shortened
or lengthened.
|

|
Can
I also put one on the outside of my laptop bag or briefcase?
Yes. It can be fitted using the 3 self-tapping screws supplied, or
using the double sided pads, or both. If travelling it is useful
having a unit for the laptop and the bag.
|
How
is the alarm powered?
It uses 4 x AAA batteries. The remote control uses 1 x MN21.
|
How
long is battery life?
In low power between 6 months and 2 years. In high and standard
power, used 8 hours a day, approximately 1-2 months. If used
less about 2-6 months. The security remote battery lasts about a
year.
|
What
happens if there is an attempt to illegally remove the batteries?
The sirens will trigger. The batteries can only be removed when
the alarm is OFF. When ON, attempts to tamper with the battery
cover will trigger the sirens.
|
How
long is the remote's range?
Range should be 5 - 25 metres. This depends on the battery
strength and physical obstructions.
|

|
Can
any other remote work my alarm?
No, it uses technology that will only allow your remote to authorise
your alarm.
|
What
happens if I lose it?
Under the security of the alarm you can 'teach' the alarm to react to
a new security remote. Refer to the user manual.
|
Which
remote control buttons do I use?
There are 3 buttons on the top of the remote, and one
underneath. The underneath button is the panic button and must
be used for that purpose only (does not function under low
power). Any of the top 3 buttons may be used for arming,
disarming and switching off the alarm. The 2 outer buttons are
also used in settings mode. In this mode the middle button is
used to step from setting to setting.
|
Which
settings can be amended?
1. Time between movement detection and siren triggering (2.5 to 8.5
seconds).
2. Whether the sirens must stop when movement stops or with the remote
only.
3. Usage in low, standard or high power modes.
|
I
changed my alarm settings, but they reverted to the factory settings?
When changing batteries you must reset your settings if they have been
altered.
|
How
do I know when the batteries need changing?
On the remote control the LED will flash when a button is depressed,
instead of remaining permanently on. On the alarm the three LEDs
will flash in slow rotation instead of flashing on and off
simultaneously.
